Lee Teachers Honored at Artist Exphibition

Congratulations to Giovanna DeSantis and Kim Jenkins for their 2nd consecutive inclusion into the FCPS annual Artist Teacher Exhibition.

For many years, one of the primary goals of Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) has been to seek out and hire candidates who are not only great art teachers, but also great artists. Today FCPS employs more than 300 art teachers, many of whom are practicing artists who share their expertise with students.

This year, for the second time, the fine arts office is organizing an art exhibition to showcase the talents of these teacher-artists. The second annual Artist Teacher Exhibition will be on display from November 2-14 at the Ernst Cultural Center at the Annandale Campus of Northern Virginia Community College.

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, November 5, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This year, over 100 teachers submitted 270 artworks for consideration for the 2009 Artist Teacher Exhibition. For more information about the exhibition, please download the attached flyer.
