The focus of the Mathematics Department is to teach our students the value of mathematics in the increasingly complex world in which they live. The use of technology is an integral part of our program. We offer classes in Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Computer Science. Math teachers offer students individual and team competition through math teams.
The Department sponsors a chapter of Mu Alpha Theta, a national Mathematics Honor Society. Students are selected on the basis of their overall GPA and math GPA. They participate in math contests, and provide service to the school and community by tutoring. The Honor Society may also initiate programs that allow any interested student the opportunity to explore interesting mathematical topics outside of the standard high school curriculum.
