Science National Honor Society (SNHS)
Introduction

The Science National Honor Society encourages and recognizes scientific and intellectual thought by advancing students’ knowledge of classical and modern science. Students communicate with the scientific community while aiding the civic community with its comprehension of science.

SNHS Requirements

To be a member of the Science National Honor Society, each student must meet the following requirements:
  • Have taken or be currently enrolled in at least 3 science classes with a 3.5 average or better.
  • Have taken or be currently enrolled in at least 2 IB level science classes with a 3.5 average or better.
  • Currently enrolled in an IB-level or senior level (Human Anatomy, Geosystems) science course.
  • Have met service requirements for at least one quarter (9 hours).
  • Have previously competed in one of the competitions or be / have been a member of one of the following teams: Regional Science Fair, Science Bowl Team, Physics Team, Science Olympiad Team.

SNHS Activities

The members of the Science National Honor Society are involved with the following activities:
  • Students participate in science competitions: Science Bowl Team, Physics Team, Science Olympiad Team.
  • Students conduct an outreach program for elementary students in the Lee pyramid featuring workshops for students
  • Students participate in an outreach program for elementary teachers in the Lee pyramid providing resources and training to improve the teaching of science at the elementary level.
  • Students attend monthly meetings
