1) What do I do if my child is going to be absent?

If the student is absent from school his/her parent or guardian should call the attendance office before 9:30 AM at 703 934-2424 to record a message. Please spell your child’s last name. This line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If a parent/guardian does not call the school, a written excuse is required. If you are going on vacation or a planned trip, please send in a note about a week before the trip so a prearranged absence can be given and your child can obtain work from the teachers.

2) What do I do if my child is going to be late for school?

If you call the attendance line you will not have to come in with your child. He/she should come to the front office to check in and get a pass to class. If you forget to call the attendance line a note may be sent in and your child will be issued a pass to class. All students arriving late must check in and receive a tardy pass.

3) What do I do if I need to pick up my child early?

If a student needs to be picked up during the school day he/she must bring a note from the parent/guardian stating the time of the dismissal. This note should be brought to the front office as soon as the student arrives at school. A pass will be issued allowing the student to leave class and meet his/her parent/guardian in the front office at the designated time. A parent/guardian or adult designated by the parent must sign the student out of school.

4) What do I do if my child is riding the bus home with another student?

Students wishing to come to or go home from school in some way other than their normal way (ride a different bus, walk, ride with another student’s parent, go home with a friend) must have a note from their parent/guardian giving permission for the student to go home a different way. All written requests must be submitted to the main office by 12:30 PM to receive a pass. If you are visiting another stuMarch 27, 2007/guardian giving permission to visit their home.

5) What are the late bus schedules?

Late buses are provided on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday for students who are regular bus riders and remain after school for a late activity. Late activities end at 3:50 PM on Monday, 4:15 PM on Wednesday and at 4:25 PM on Thursday. Late buses leave between 4 and 4:45 PM. If buses leave later that 4:45 on Wednesday or Thursday there will be a message on the main number 703 934-2400 stating the time the late buses left. Late bus Schedules are posted at the back entrance of the school. Students are required to obtain a late bus pass from the late activity teacher and present it to the bus driver. Students should obtain permission to stay from their parent/guardian the day before a late activity day.

6) What do I need to bring if I change my address but stays within the school boundaries?

The parent needs to bring a copy of the lease or deed to the office.
