- Food and drink are not permitted in the library or computer labs at all times. Failure to comply will result in the suspension of library privileges and offenders will be required to leave the library immediately.
- The library is an academic area and is to be used for quiet study and research. Disruptive students will be required to leave the library. Cell phone use is prohibited in the library. Students should make and receive calls, after 2:10 pm, in the hallway.
- Personal computers and other portable communication devices are not permitted in the library.
- Students are required to have a pass for admittance to the library during class time. Passes to the library during the lunch periods are available in the hallway outside of the cafeteria.
- Students are expected to take care of the library materials and furnishings, push chairs in and place trash in the proper receptacles.
- Library materials should be checked out properly and handled with care. Pages should not be marked or torn out of books or magazines. The Virginia Code (Sec. 42.1-72-42.1-74) specifically addresses the unauthorized concealment, damage and removal of library materials. See a librarian if you need magazines or newspapers to clip.
- If you choose to check out library materials for someone else, then you assume the responsibility for any overdue or lost materials attributed to your account.
- Library fines and overdue charges are to be cleared before the end of each school year. Seniors with obligations will not receive graduation tickets, and parking permits will not be issued to any student with library obligations. In August, a $10.00 service charge may be added to the records of all students with fines or overdue materials remaining from prior school years.
- Student printing service fees: Black & white printouts are $0.10 per page and color printouts are $0.50 per page. This fee may be paid at the circulation desk.
- All library computers are monitored. Computers in the library and computer labs are to be used for educational purposes only. The FCPS Acceptable Use Policy is enforced. Violation of this policy will result in loss of computer use privileges.
- Copyright laws are to be observed. Notices to this effect are posted on the copy machine. Sources of information, including the Internet, should be cited in your work. PLAGIARISM is a serious violation of Langley High School’s Honor Code.
