Welcome to the Langley High School
Advanced Placement Virtual Curriculum Fair

AP ENROLLMENT NOTES:

It is important to make educated decisions when choosing AP courses. We encourage students to take AP courses that are appropriate.  We do not want students to overload their schedules so much as to cause emotional problems or prevent involvement in extra-curricular activities.

Planning ahead is an important life skill. We recommend that not more than 2 AP courses be taken in the junior year and 4 AP courses during the senior year.  Permission will be required to take additional AP courses.  Think carefully and do not over-extend.

  • Students are required to attend an AP Information Session
  • All students are required to remain in the AP class until the end of the first semester and must complete all required work.  Dropping an AP or not taking the AP exam will affect the GPA.
  • Semester grades in AP courses will be recorded on the mid-year transcript sent to colleges.
  • An AP class may be dropped second semester on a space-available basis, but only after it has been determined that the student is not capable of completing the work. (This does not mean that the student does not want to do the work.)
  • Colleges will be notified when an AP is dropped, as this may affect acceptances.
  • A WF or WP will be recorded on the student’s transcript when dropping a class.
  • Summer assignments for the AP courses must be completed prior to the first day of class, except in the case of students new to Langley.
  • A contract must be completed and returned to Student Services by March 21, 2008 to remain on the course list.  The student must also be on the AP Information List in order to take an AP.  Students not completing these requirements will be removed from the AP course and the requested alternate elective will be substituted.

Fill out and print the AP Contract (due to counselor by March 21, 2008).
