Spring Sports Tryouts
Spring sports tryouts begin Monday, February 20, 2012. In order to participate in any sport, practice or tryout, each student-athlete must have submitted the revised Virginia High School League physical form (3/11) to the Student Activities office. The form can be downloaded from
www.langleysports.org or
www.vhsl.org. The physical must be completed on or after May 1, 2011 for the 2011-2012 school year. Please make a copy for your records. ALSO REQUIRED: NEWLY MANDATED CONCUSSION PROGRAM must be completed by the student-athlete and one parent in order to tryout. Visit

TEEN TRAFFIC SAFETY PROGRAM – 2ND YEAR: NEW FOR DRIVER’S EDUCATION
A new law concerning driver’s education will began last September, 2010. As part of the classroom driver education instruction, students and their parent/guardian are required to attend a 90 minute traffic safety program. This requirement must be met before the student will receive a Driver Education Certificate of Completion (commonly referred to as the “green card”). THIS IS MANDATORY.
The third opportunity to attend this program will be March 21 in the Langley HS auditorium at 7 PM. The doors will close at 7 PM and no one will be admitted once the doors have closed. Be prepared to stay for the entire 90 minutes. If you leave early, your presence will not be counted and you will need to repeat the session. You are encouraged to attend the session during the quarter the student is enrolled in Driver’s Education.
Please be aware of the following procedures that have been established to fulfill the requirements of the new law:
• Student must attend with their parent/ guardian
• Parent/guardian is required to show valid driver’s license or state issued identification number
• Attendance for FULL 90 minutes is required
• Proper completion of the registration form required (received at the session)
• Program must be completed during the year student is enrolled in Grade 10 HPE
• No fees are charged to FCPS students. Fees are only assessed if taken during ACE

A registration form should be completed by students not currently enrolled in Fairfax
County Public School’s grade 10 health and physical education, including FCPS
students in grade 11, homeschooled students, private school students, and
students from other school divisions who plan to attend a Partners for Safe Teen Driving presentation at an FCPS high school with a parent/guardian.

Attention Advanced Placement Visual Arts Seniors and Parents
This year we are offering an amazing trip to Italy during Spring Break 2012! The Visual Arts department invites interested and committed AP Visual Art seniors to attend an exciting 9-day excursion to Venice, Florence and Rome, Italy. The dates for the trip are March 30 - April 7, 2012. This trip is limited to AP Art students and attendance is dependent on referrals from Art Teachers. Also, please plan to attend the interest meeting after school September 7, 2011 in Room 113 at 3:00pm. *Pricing for the trip increases after September 15, 2011.
