School Fliers & Announcements

  • Next week is Spring Break: Monday, April 14th through Friday, April 18th. School and the office will be CLOSED.  School will reopen on Monday, April 21st at the regular time.

  • Lane’s Fifth Annual Poetry Café will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd and Wednesday, April 23rd in the Lane Library. Students are invited to read a poem themselves or just enjoy poetry read by other students. Parents who have students reading at the Café are invited to come and listen. Check with your child’s teacher to verify the specific day and time the class will visit the Café and to find out if your child will be reading.

  • Thanks to all the kids and dads who attended our first ever “Donuts and Dads” breakfast this past Monday! We had almost three dozen dads attend, and we hope that many will join our Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) team.  If you are a father, grandfather, uncle, etc. of a current student, we would love to have you volunteer at Lane through this program. Check out the Watch D.O.G.S. page on our website for details.

  • Registration Now Open for ACE Enrichment Summer Camps
FCPS’s Adult and Community Education (ACE) offers a wide array of summer camp programs for rising first grade through rising seventh grade students. ACE summer camps for elementary students include world language camps (FLEX, FLEXtra and Immersion), creative writing, culinary adventures, and more. Registration for ACE Summer Camp is now open. See the flier for details.

  • Parents of 6th graders are reminded that Hayfield Middle School will host a Rising 7th grade Parent Workshop on Wednesday, April 23rd at 6:30. The School Counseling Team will present “Tips for a Smooth Transition to Hayfield.” Please visit the Hayfield Secondary School website to RSVP for the workshop.

  • Our spring SOL schedule has been posted. Please make every effort to ensure that your student will be at school on the grade-specific SOL testing dates below. Please try to avoid scheduling appointments on the days that your student is testing. We appreciate your support in working toward our students' success.

  • We are still looking for parent volunteers to participate in our Reading Mentor program. If you are available Tuesday through Friday mornings and love reading, we’d love to have your help! We are looking for Reading Mentors to spend 30 minutes each week with reading buddies in grades K – 6 to help them continue to develop their reading skills. If you’re interested, please contact third-grade teacher Whitney Dierman at
