HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS
Middle School Supply Lists
First Day of School
- Middle school students need to bring only paper and a pen or pencil.
- Please mark your child’s name on all items brought to school (backpacks, school supplies, lunch bags, jackets, etc.).
- Students will be assigned lockers. When considering which type of book bag or backpack to buy, please keep in mind the dimensions of the locker (11 ¾” wide and 11” deep).
These lists are NOT team specific and are subject to change based on your child’s team assignment.Teams may require additional supplies.
SEVENTH GRADE:
- Completed summer math packet and summer reading form (online at http://www.fcps.edu/LakeBraddockSS/summer/summer_assign2012ms.htm)
- Notebook paper, standard rule
- Three one-subject spiral notebooks
- Graph paper, ¼" grid (for school and home use)
- Post-it Notes (3-inch by 3-inch)
- Large supply of #2 pencils
- Large supply of dark blue or black ballpoint pens
- Two red felt-tip pens (such as Flair)
- Set of colored pencils, set of colored markers, and two highlighters (different colors)
- Glue sticks (several), ruler, and eraser
- Small pencil sharpener, small stapler, and small student scissors
- One large zippered pencil pouch (to hold supplies)
- Hand sanitizer or Clorox wipes
- Two boxes of tissues for team use
- Teams may require 3-ring binders for some core classes. The number of binders needed will be listed on specific team supply lists at the beginning of the school year.
- If taking Algebra: One three-subject spiral notebook. Algebra Honors students will also need: one packet of glue sticks, one ruler for classroom use, one pack of dry-erase markers for classroom use.
- If taking Algebra or Geometry: Graph paper (1/4 inch grid for home and school use), TI 83, TI 83+ or TI 84+ calculator is required for home use. Loaners are available. Math teachers will provide calculators for classroom use.
- If taking Geometry: Compass (for home and classroom use)
- AVID students will be provided with a three-inch binder in which to keep work for all of their classes.
EIGHTH GRADE:

- Three hard-cover binders (2 ½ - 3 inch)*
- Dividers without pockets (suggest three packs of eight dividers)
- Zippered pencil bags (suggest one per binder)
- One composition book (for science)
- Notebook paper (standard rule)
- Post-it Notes (3-inch by 3-inch)
- Pencils (#2), blue or black ink pens, and red ink pens
- Colored pencils and highlighters
- Glue sticks (several) and ruler
- Small stapler and small student scissors
- One heavy-duty 7-pocket portfolio for science class (plastic or canvas is acceptable)
- Hand sanitizer or Clorox wipes
- Two boxes of tissues for team use
- If taking Math 8: Scientific calculator for home use only. Math teachers will provide calculators for classroom use.

- Colored pencils (one set/sharpened)
- One highlighter
- One bilingual dictionary to bring to class everyday

English
English 9 Supply List
Students who will be taking regular English 9 next year should read a grade-appropriate novel of their choice and be prepared to discuss it upon return to school in the fall.

- Non blue/black/red ink pen for revisions
- Single subject notebook (some teachers specify composition notebooks)
- 3-ring binder and dividers

Tenth Grade World History Supply List

The World History 1 team also has a general list of supplies we would like parents to donate to the team. Each student is NOT expected to bring these supplies in. If parents want to donate some of these items to the WH1 team, they may send these materials into their WH1 teacher or they may bring them to room H210 before the beginning of the school year.

Chemistry Supply List
- 2” binder with dividers for chemistry only.
- Scientific or graphing calculator – TI 84 or higher is preferred.
- Honors – composition notebook
- AP – 1- composition notebook, 1 with grid ( Staples carries them)
- AP and Honors – folder with pockets
- All- tissues or paper towels or Sanitizing wipes.
- Optional – colored pencils or highlighters.
World Languages
Spanish 2 Supply list
- an assignment book
- pencil or pen, red pen
- one package of low odor dry erase markers
- loose leaf paper
- a hardback, 3-ringed binder, at least 1 1/2 inches wide. The binder should have pockets, if possible. (for Spanish only)
- a set of four dividers for your notebook.
- 10 packages of 4 x 6 or 3 x 5 cards. (As the year goes on you will need to replenish your supply of index cards.)
- a big zippered pouch to put your cards in or loose leaf rings
- one ream of bright, colored paper
- Some teachers may require:
