The Fairfax County School Board requires all students to read at least one book during the summer months. Suggested summer reading lists have been created and are available at this website.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS
English
All 7th and 8th graders should bring the appropriate completed assignment to their English teacher on the first day of their English class.
7th Grade English - General Ed Assignment - Read at least one book of your choice from the FCPS list or any book on a seventh grade reading level. Seventh grade teachers would like you to read a fiction book, but you may choose non-fiction. Complete the following form, which will be used for an in-class writing assignment.

HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS
Algebra 2 This packet is required. All students planning to enter Algebra 2 should complete this packet before the start of school in September 2011.
1. In order to take full advantage of the video instruction offered by the web links provided in each section, this summer review assignment is best completed while opened on your computer.
2. Complete all exercises and bring this packet to your initial Algebra 2 class in September 2011. You may use a calculator (except when noted otherwise); but, show all work used to arrive at your answer. Calculus This is the required summer review packet for those students entering AP Calculus AB or BC in the fall. You need to have this completed and corrected on the first day back to school.

AP Statistics Welcome to AP Statistics! This packet is due on the 2nd day of class. Please note that there is a reading assignment (lots of letters from former students) and a writing assignment (a letter to me from you telling me what you are going to do to be successful in ALL your AP classes this year - lots of hints from the previous letters. On the first Monday, there will be a summer packet quiz that covers all the concepts from this packet. Please note, that for the most part the information in this packet is not AP Statistics material - it is review of the statistics that you learned in middle school.
