Description of the Lake Braddock Middle School FINE ARTS program:

The Fine Arts program at Lake Braddock Middle School has three course offerings: a seventh grade Introductory Art semester elective, an eighth grade Intermediate Art semester elective, and an eighth grade Advanced Art full year elective. The prerequisite for taking Advanced Art is a seventh grade semester class or teacher review of an art portfolio. The program provides students with opportunities to express themselves in a variety of art media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture. Lessons promote artistic skill development and an understanding of the language of art, while encouraging creative problem-solving, and multicultural awareness. Students maintain a sketchbook, compile a portfolio of their artwork, and exhibit their work in both school displays and the Laura P. Thomas Gallery located in our school.
