HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELING SERVICES
OUR MISSION:
The Lake Braddock High School Counseling staff collaborates with students, parents and staff members to prepare and encourage all students to achieve high standards of excellence. We provide a comprehensive developmental program that addresses the academic, social/emotional and college/career preparatory needs of our diverse student body. As professional school counselors we also empower students to achieve their current and future goals, and to develop citizenship that embraces excellence of character.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
The Lake Braddock Secondary High School Counselors believe:
- all students can learn and will be encouraged to pursue lifelong learning
- all students have dignity and worth and the right to access Counseling Services
- all students are individuals with varied learning styles and abilities
- all students should strive toward healthy relationships which are interdependent
The Lake Braddock Secondary comprehensive school counseling program:
- is based on agreed upon goals consistent with the developmental stages of learning
- functions as a professional learning community to meet goals
- provides a curriculum developed and monitored by the counseling staff in coordination with students, parents and community
- considers ethnic, cultural, racial, sexual differences and special needs when planning and implementing the school counseling program
- is data driven, continually evaluating the changing needs of our students
All Lake Braddock Secondary High School Counselors will:
- advocate for all students
- be full time employees who hold a master's degree in school counseling and hold a valid Virginia Pupil Personnel Services License
- abide by the professional ethics as advocated by the American School Counselors Association
- participate in professional development activities to maintain a quality school counseling program
