I have served as Lake Braddock 's Sub School 5 principal since 2005. I am a product of Fairfax County Public Schools and proud graduate of Annandale High School . After completing undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina , I earned a masters degree in special education from The George Washington University. I have served FCPS as a substitute teacher, instructional assistant, elementary and middle school special education teacher. I relocated to the Blacksburg area to pursue a degree in Education Leadership at Virginia Tech. While completing my degree, I had the opportunity to teach high school students.
As an advocate for all students; I consider it my professional mission to guide each child to achieve in the areas of academics, essential life skills, and community service – ultimately, turning the challenges of life into the stepping stones of opportunity. My responsibilities include the supervision, encouragement, attendance, and discipline of high school students with the last names beginning with L-Q. Additionally, I have the distinct privilege of serving as the Class of 2008 administrator -- and soon to be the administrator of the Class of 2012.
It is my honor to supervise the high school science department. We continue to work as a professional learning community to increase the consistency and opportunities for all students enrolled in science courses. To provide a caring and focused learning environment, I am assisted by an incredible administrative assistant Connie Ryals and counseling staff of four: Mrs. Lynne Carrera, Ms. Sylvia Coleman, Mrs. Naomi Freedman and Ms. Krisna Taylor. We work diligently as a team to engage our students in meaningful and measurable learning.
Education is truly the catalyst for sustainable, positive change and I look forward to working with you.
