Music
At Lake Anne, we believe that students should actively participate in all parts of making music so that the knowledge students learn is intricately linked to their musical experiences. At LAES students have music twice a week for 40 minutes. Students participate in a variety of sequential experiences in singing, playing instruments, and dancing. VOICE - Students develop age-appropriate singing-skills using folk songs and multicultural songs. INSTRUMENTS - Students play a variety of instruments, including xylophones, hand drums, maracas, and many other percussion instruments. In addition, all students in third through sixth grade learn to play the recorder. DANCE - Students develop a variety of dancing skills so that they can perform traditional folk dances and also create their own dances. Through all of these experiences students listen to, perform and create music. And, they have fun, too! Fifth and Sixth Grade Chorus The chorus is open to all fifth and sixth grade chorus and meets once a week for 45 minutes. The goal of the chorus is to advance the students’ singing skills to improve their tone, diction, and expression through choral repertoire. The chorus performs several times throughout the year, and we invite you to come and see us! Here are some upcoming performances. For other dates and times, please see the school calendar. |
