During their study of the
earth and moon, students from a local high school visited to
give several demonstrations. Third graders were enthralled
by these engaging presentations. Afterwards, they were
encouraged to think about what made the presentations
interesting.
The high school students
gave presentations on the reasons for seasons using props.
Not only did this help solidify the third graders
understandings of the topic, but it also gave them ideas for
their own productions.
Audience participation
was encouraged. A ping pong ball on the end of a "balloon
stick" and a strong light give third graders a chance to
create the phases of the moon.
Students then got to work
researching and creating their own
presentations.
