WANTED EXPLORERS!
After accepting the call for adventurers, students formed countries and went in search of sponsors for their explorations.

Flags were created for each country as well as maps.

Students completed an Explorers Webquest to find out about explorers from the past. As part of the webquest, they had to create a passport for their explorer.
Then students researched a particular explorer from past history. Using the Internet and print resources, they found out about their explorer and created a poster which they shared with the class.

Other classmates noted important information about each explorer on data retrieval charts.

Once the sponsors had answered the explorers' requests, the students dropped by to accept resources from the sponsors and to promise to share any discoveries they made on their adventures.

Then production day came and students took their resources and created products that could be traded when they went exploring. They were very proud of their products.
Finally, it was time to go exploring. Once explorers arrived in a county, they made contact with the natives, read their journals and asked questions.
The bartering was intense but all parties seemed pleased with the results.
After a country was explored, passports were stamped. Student groups also wrote a journal entry for each country they were visiting.

Once the first group of explorers were finished, the second group got their turn.

Finally, all of the riches were sorted among the group and a small payment was set aside the sponsor.
