Desert Tortoise

The desert tortoise lives in a cool underground burrow. It eats grass,occasionally cacti and berries. People driving along desert roads and farmers kill the desert tortoise. Desert tortoises have a shell that is approximately 12 inches wide.The length of the desert tortoise is up to 14.5 inches. These interesting animals can live up to 100 years. This tortoise is endangered.It weighs 8 to 10 pounds.
