Lesson: Spreadsheets with Smarties

This is divided into three lessons. #1-learning the parts of a spreadsheet and creating a simple spreadsheet using Smarties. #2-making a bar graph with the spreadsheet and manipulating the graph. #3-writing questions about the graph and exchanging with a friend to see if they can interpret your graph.

#1-Creating the spreadsheet-Directions for this activity

Students get together in groups of 3, 4 or 5 to separate Smarties and fill out the worksheet.

1.How many smarties are there in all?

2.How many more smarties did the boys have than the girls?

3.How many more red smarties were there than yellow smarties?
