Welcome to the Kings Park art department!
Art is always a favorite subject among the students at Kings Park. Every child in kindergarten through third grade participates in art once a week. Your child will have one of two talented and creative art teachers who specialize in Discipline Based Art Education. Discipline Based Art Education focuses on four components of art; production, criticism, aesthetics, and art history. Integration is another major component of the Kings Park art program. Your child will learn about connections that artists such as Claude Monet and Chuck Close have to classroom curriculum and daily life.
During art your child will have the opportunity to explore paint, drawing materials, stitching, various types of weaving, collage, architecture, ceramics, and sculpture. Your child will also have the opportunity to work on problem solving skills in group projects like murals and sculptures. At Kings Park we strive to inspire creativity in every child.
If you have any questions regarding the art department, or if you would like to learn about ways to volunteer in the art room, please feel free to contact us at 703-426-7000 or via email.
