The second grade teachers believe in building a community of learners with your children. The teachers work together with specialists, resource teachers, instructional assistants and you to plan activities that enhance the second grade program. We study habitats, Native Americans, and many other interesting topics. The teachers conduct pre assessments (both paper/pencil and hands on) in all subject areas to provide information as to what the best form of instruction would be for your child. The students are flexibly grouped, individually instructed and provided inclusion services based upon their need to develop as a learner. The teachers then meet weekly to analyze data from teachings and post assessments to tailor instruction for those the students who either need reinforcement in a particular subject or are ready to advance as needed.
