Welcome to the Early Childhood Program at Kings Park ! We are a Fairfax County Program that offers a child-centered approach to learning for children, ages 2-5, with developmental delays. Children are found eligible for the program following a free developmental screening.
Throughout the early childhood experience, children receive the guidance and involvement of teachers, assistants, and therapists with extensive training in child development. We have a play-based approach to learning which allows your child to explore the world around them in a safe and fun place. The environment is set up to best fit the needs of each child on an individual basis, offering opportunities to be successful while also encouraging your child to take on new challenges. Learning occurs during peer and adult interactions, through the exploration of the many classroom centers, and also through participation in one-to-one and group activities.
To increase the opportunity for language and social interaction, Kings Park has opened its early childhood program to typically developing children within the community who can be positive role models. Refer to the early childhood Integration Program for more information and the application process.
