Mrs. Lane has a B. S. degree in Home Economics Education from Longwood
University and a B. S. degree in Nutrition from the University of
Maryland. She has worked in various hospitals in the Food Service
Department for about 20 years, the last being INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
In 2002 she decided she wanted to pursue her first love and teach.
She started at Kilmer in Feb. 2002 as an Instructional Assistant.
She taught 8th grade at Kilmer a year. In the following years she
taught 7th grade, 8th grade and high school Family and Consumer
Sciences at Lake Braddock and Robinson Secondary Schools. She has
now come full circle and is back at Kilmer teaching 7th and 8th
Grades.
She really enjoys teaching. “The students are like sponges;
everything is soaked up and processed based on their own experiences
and talents. They are ever changing and full of surprises. They
should be celebrated for who they are and the potential of who they
will become.”
Mrs. Lane enjoys being outside, flowers, good books, conversations
with her daughter, and is beginning to enjoy traveling. She has
been married for 33 years with one child, a daughter.
