Educational Philosophy
Mrs. Hazlin's personal educational philosophy is that the library's
resources reach far beyond its walls and information literacy is
a key component for student success in both middle school and the
world at large. She also believes that given the right book, every
student will enjoy reading.

Mrs.
Hazlin is thrilled to be in her third year at Kilmer Middle School
-- it is a wonderful place to teach and to learn! Prior to entering
the field of education, she worked in the information industry for
nine years. Her background is primarily in corporate and non-profit
libraries; she has been a librarian at Johnson & Johnson, Grey
Advertising, and The New York Academy of Medicine. Through her various
positions, Mrs. Hazlin has done library and research skills instruction
for students ranging in age from middle school through to senior citizens.
With a special affinity for teaching middle school students and young
adult literature, she decided to pursue education full time.
Mrs. Hazlin received her
Masters in Library Service from Rutgers in New Jersey, a Bachelor
of Arts in English and History from Boston College, and is herself
a product of Fairfax County Public Schools, graduating from McLean
High School. In her free time, she likes to read, play outside,
and most importantly, spend time with her husband and her three-year-old
son.
