Open to all students, members of the Cheer Club will learn and create cheers, chants, and dances.  Students are expected to wear athletic clothes and sneakers to practice.  Meetings will be weekly on Wednesdays after school.  Meets every Wednesday at 2:40pm.

Chess Club
Students hone their chess skills and learn the art of strategy. Chess club participates in local, state and national competitions. Will meet every 3rd Monday of the month starting September 17th 2007 (Room D117).

College Partnership
Selected students will improve their academic achievement, prepare for college and real world experiences and explore a variety of career fields. First meeting after school on Wednesday, October 3 (Cafeteria).

Family & Consumer Science Club (FCS)
To learn leadership skills which increase self esteem, focus on family, career and community issues, and build a strong foundation for future social development. Meets the last Wednesday of the month (Room B116).

Open to all students. Activities designed around a recreational focus with a connection to what skills are currently being taught in Physical Education. Competition between schools teams are held throughout the year. Begins September 17th, 2007.

Kilmer Cares
A group of caring students who want to do “good deeds” in the school and the community. Past projects include; making sandwiches for Food for Others and collecting money for hurricane relief. Meetings are bi-weekly or weekly, depending on the current project. No application, students can join if they have an interest in a particular project. Meetings are the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month starting Sepember 24 (D110).

Kilmer Chronicle (Paw Print)
Students will create, edit and publish the school newspaper. Interest meeting will be held the second week of late buses. Application will include writing an article. First meeting is Wednesday, September 19; we will meet every other Wednesday.

Kilmer Crime Scene Investigators
A 15-lesson immersion program in forensic science This project-oriented course engages students in scientific discovery as they work to solve the mystery of the broken cookie jar. Student will apply real laboratory techniques, students work together in teams to analyze trace evidence, unknown substances, handwriting, fingerprints and even shoe prints left at the crime scene. Requires sign up and commitment to attend all 15 one hour lessons. Will be offered in the second semester.

Kilmer Kidz Count (K²C)
K²C is an inclusive, community service based club that is based on the philosophy that all kids have talents, abilities, and personal traits that are a valuable asset to our school as well as the outside community, and that all kids should be treated as equals. Members of K²C will participate in a variety of community service-related projects as well as fun, friendship building activities. The activities will focus on: friendship, inclusion, school pride, citizenship, and personal growth. The club will meet 1-2 Mondays per month. Open to all students at Kilmer Middle School .

Practice session for math team which represents school in local contests. Develop techniques and strategies for dealing with complex math problems. Introductory meeting on Wednesday, September 19; we will meet Wednesdays starting in October (Room A113)

The Math Team is open to all Kilmer students. Every month we compete against other Fairfax County Public Schools on a timed competition. The meetings take place after school and the dates will be posted in all math classrooms.

Model United Nations (MUN) Club
This club is open to any students, in 7th or 8th grade, who enjoys learning about global issues and debating! Students become "dlegates" of various countries, complete research about global topics and represent these countries at MUN througout the year. Interest meeting is Wednesday, October 10th and meetings will be every other Wednesday througout the year (Room A104).

NASA--Packing Up for the Moon
Kilmer will be participating in a NASA sponsored program starting in January. "Packing Up for the Moon" is an engineering design challenge that focuses on designing, building and evaluating a lunar plant growth chamber. Sessions will be held Thursdays in January, February, and March for one hour after school. All students must have a reliable way of getting home after the session (ending at 3:30pm), to be eligible to participate. All interested students need to drop by C103 by December 19th to sign up. Space is limited to 15 students.

Odyssey of the Mind
An international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities or students from kindergarten through college. Kids apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program. Anticipated start date September 17th, 2007.

Sewing Club
This club will be for those students interested in machine sewing and hand sewing. It will be a student driven club in that they will choose what kind of sewing they would like to learn. Examples can be machine sewing decorative items or clothing items, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, and/or embroidery. The club will be open to all students. Will start in October with meetings every other Wednesday depending on student participation.

Auditions are open to all Kilmer students and are held in January. Opportunities include acting/ performing and working behind-the-scenes on production crew. Auditions will take place in January . Second Semester.

The Student Council Association. An elected group of students make decisions on various issues at Kilmer based on the views of the student body. Interest meeting on September 17, 2007.

Tennis club students will work on their strokes, serves, and match play. Meetings to be held once a week weather permitting. Club will meet Mondays starting September 17th, 2007.

Yoga/Pilates Club
Yoga classes offer a wide variety of benefits, from enhanced physical body strength, flexibility and awareness to mental and emotional balance. Classes are designed around the students' needs (time and level of experience), as well as their interests. Mondays starting on September 17th.
