Market Days Fundraiser:

MARKET DAY - GREAT FOOD and an easy way to raise MONEY FOR KEY!   Key Middle School is participating again this year in a fundraising food program called Market Day. Each month you can purchase restaurant quality food products and Key
Middle School will earn profit on your purchases. Last year we raised almost $1,500 for the school.  You can find out more about Market Day and even order online at www.marketday.com.  Order sheets will also be sent home with students every month and are available in the main office.

We have teamed up with Springfield Estates Elementary School and will share their account number and pickup location, but 100% of the profit from YOUR order will go to Key Middle School.

Please take a few minutes to visit the Market Day website and place an order. Our account number is 16604. If you have any questions, please contact Sally McColl at sallymccoll@gmail.com or 703-644-4611.  All orders are picked up at SPRINGFIELD ESTATES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

Parental involvement increases students’ success, regardless of factors like economic status, background, or parents’ education levels.  Research shows that when parents are involved, students have:

  • Higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates
  • Better school attendance
  • Greater enrollment rates in postsecondary education
  • Increased motivation and better self-esteem
  • More positive attitudes and behaviors
  • Lower rates of suspension
  • Decreased use of alcohol and other drugs
  • Fewer instances of violent or antisocial behavior

One of the easiest ways to become involved in Key Middle School is to join the PTA (Parent Teacher Association).    By helping parents become active in their children’s lives, your PTA membership helps level the playing field for all children and helps prevent children from engaging in risky behaviors.    Key Middle School PTA provides cultural and community programs, planners for the students, volunteers and funding for school events such as the Turkey Trot and 8th Grade Day, and supplies and hospitality for teachers.

Key Middle School PTA is a member of National PTA which boasts over 6 million members and is the largest child advocacy organization in the United States.  This allows us to be a voice for children by communicating with local, state, and national decision makers for laws that affect our children.

PTA meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm in the library at Key.  EVERYONE IS WELCOME.  We would really appreciate the input of ALL parents of Key Middle School students.  Although PTA members are not required to attend our meetings, they are a good way to learn about activities or issues at the school.  The PTA is the major vehicle through which parents enhance and enrich students’ experiences at Key Middle School.   An active PTA is essential to our partnership with the school and the administration in supporting the current and future environment of our school.

We invite you to become a member of our growing team of parents who are committed to working together to enhance the learning experience for all our students.  We strongly urge ALL parents to show their support for Key Middle School by joining the PTA.  Dues are $7 per adult family member for the entire year.  Please download  the Membership form and send it in to the school with your payment.
