Welcome to Room 343!
September means only one thing “Welcome Back to School!” We are looking forward to working with your child. Our classroom is ready and we have lots of exciting activities planned. We are ready to learn, grow and be successful! Students will work hard on their individual goals and enjoy both large and small group lessons. Each week students will have Adapted P.E., Music/Sensory, Vocational Class, Quest and the Aquatic program.
The class will be learning about “Student Rights and Responsibilities.” Students will demonstrate what is “cool” and what is “not cool” to do in school. Using picture/word symbols students will make choices of “appropriate school behavior.” Throughout the school year your child will be involved in our school wide program “Key Rockets.” Students will be praised for their individual achievements through following school rules (i.e waiting your turn, following directions, being helpful). At the end of each month students will be reward with several choices (i.e pizza party, ice cream and movie).
This year our classroom theme is “Learning through Nature.” Students will have an opportunity to explore a variety of sensory/tactile materials that will be integrated in Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies curriculum. Students will enjoy learning and reading a variety of books while exploring materials that are related to the activities.
We will continue to have an opportunity to go out in the community for or CBI trips. These trips will include visiting McDonald’s, Bowling, Dollar Tree, Huntley Meadows Park and Walmart. Students will learn to generalize their skills and become more independent in the community. These are just several places we will visit
Each day a daily communication notebook will be sent home, please return it and write any questions, positive feedback or what your child did over the weekend. Welcome back students and parents! We are looking forward to a successful and productive school year!
