Garfield Elementary School
"Friends Down The Street"

This program started in February 2002. Eight Garfield students come to Key Center School every Monday afternoon from 12:30-1:30 to work in the elementary classrooms.  This is a totally volunteer program from the Garfield students, as they are out early on Monday.   It provides them with a two-fold opportunity to learn about children with disabilities and programs for students with special needs.  Key Center students benefit by having peer interaction and a FRIEND down the street!
