About Us
Welcome to Classroom 312. In our secondary classroom, students are supported in working toward mastery of individualized education goals as well as improving functional daily living skills. Instruction in these skills is embedded into an academic curriculum which is guided by the Virginia Adapted Standards of Learning (ASOLs). A variety of low and high technology tools are utilized to assist students in communicating their thoughts and demonstrating their knowledge.
In addition to classroom activities, students participate in special classes on a weekly basis. These classes include adapted physical education (APE), music/sensory, Quest (a literacy program focused upon reading and writing), art, aquatics and creative dance. Vocational skills are practiced during activities in the school’s vocational workshop as well as at various community work sites. Students have ample opportunity for community based instruction and enjoy getting out in the community to practice skills outside of our school building.
We are looking forward to a wonderful year fulfilling Key Center School’s mission to Set High Expectations, Create Opportunities and Expect Success! |
