Irving Late Bus Information
Late buses from Irving Middle School run on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning in mid-September and ending in early June. Buses depart at approximately 4:10 pm. Not all buses have a late run. Please check the Irving Community Blackboard site for specific routes and stops.
NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a service based club/organization made up of students who exhibit many important qualities and characteristics that can serve as great models for all Irving students. NJHS members are expected to meet and maintain the scholarship requirement by achieving a grade point average of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale). They must also be committed to the NJHS goals of leadership, service, character, and citizenship.
The NJHS is a major commitment of a student's time and talent with meetings and service projects conducted throughout the school year. All exemplary students who are self motivated, dedicated to the mission of NJHS, and willing to make the time commitment are encouraged to apply.
To be eligible to join the NJHS, a student must meet the following requirements:
- Maintain a B+ (3.5) average at Washington Irving Middle School throughout the school year
- Demonstrate outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship
- Complete 10 hours of community service prior to submitting an application
- Complete and submit an application prior to the due date
Applications will be reviewed based on the criteria above. Those students who best exemplify the qualities of a National Junior Honor Society member will be inducted.
Important dates for students seeking membership:
- Applications will be accepted in the spring of 2011.
The responsibilities of inducted members include the following:
- Maintain a B+ average for the school year and demonstrate outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship
- Students are expected to attend all meetings throughout the year (first Tuesday of each month)
- Students must complete 10 hours of community service
- Pay a one-time dues fee of $10.00
- Appropriate behavior (discipline infractions may result in dismissal)
