Service Learning Over the Summer

7th and 8th grade students are required to complete service learning. You can get a start over the summer on these hours for a variety of activities. Take a look at the requirements and the reporting forms.

Summer Math and Reading

The Irving Math and English departments have prepared summer assignments to allow students to hone their academic skills and keep their mind sharp while school is out. Please click here for all the information and be sure and follow the instructions based on the courses your student will be taking next fall.

STATE of Virginia CTE Program winner

Congratulations to Tech Ed Teacher Matt Bechtel and the team of 7th grade Science and Math teachers for winning the Career and Technical Education Program of the Year. Irving Middle School's STEM Neighborhood Project teaches students the principles of applied architecture and engineering, environmental analysis and budget estimation to design a real-world neighborhood. For more information on the award, see the Virginia Department of Education news release. For an overview of this STEM based project, watch this FCPS video.
