International Space Station Live Downlink Hunters Woods Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences in conjuction with the Challenger Center for Space Science Education in Alexandria,Virginia will conduct a live downlink with the International Space Station during the week of October 12th through the 22nd. Mr. Richard Garriott, private space explorer and son of NASA astronaut Dr. Owen Garriott, will launch into space aboard the Russian Federal Space Agency Soyuz TMA-13 on October 12. Cosmonaut Yury Lonchakov is expedition 18 flight engineer along with NASA astronaut Sandra Magnus and Koichi Wakata of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. NASA astronaut, Michael Fincke is commander.
The 20 minute uplink will be in the KZO studios in Reston Virginia. Three to six Hunters Woods students will have an opportunity to ask Mr. Garriott questions about his experiments in space. The entire event will be broadcast via webcast on the Challenger Center's website and will be broadcast live to students at Hunters Woods.
This is an exciting opportunity for our students to enrich and enlighten their math and science curriculum!!
