Nine Week Plan Objectives: Physical Education

Standards: The student will……..

Be able to appropriately use movement skills and combinations of skills in the context of actual performance situations (games).

Demonstrate correct form in all basic manipulative, locomotor and nonlocomotor skills.

Demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.

Consistently step out with the opposite foot when using the underhand or overhand throw.

Units

Class Management: All students will learn their instant warm-up routine and squad places which will be used daily throughout the year.

Organization and Routine Practice: All students will learn different formations we use in class such as center circle, compressing lines and a blob.

Locomotor Skills and Body Management: All students will review locomotor skills including upper grades. Primary grades will learn about each movement (walk, run, skip, hop, jump, gallop, slide, leap) and upper grades will use these plus add the elements of movement (direction, speed, levels and patterns).

Throwing/Catching: All students will practice throwing skills. Primary grades will practice throwing a variety of equipment and specifically stepping with the opposite foot and upper grades will practice the football throw using nerf footballs.

Fitness Testing Fitness Testing: Primary grades will continue to practice throwing skills in game situations and fitness stations while upper grades will fitness test in groups.

Simple Tagging Games and Lead-up Games: Primary grades will play simple tagging games to practice chasing, fleeing and dodging while upper grades will play lead-up games using the football throw.

Opportunities: Students get to choose from 3 games suggested by the teacher. A vote is taken and majority rules.
