Holmes MS Blackboard Troubleshooting Frequently Asked Questions

Issue 1: I can't log on to Blackboard using my child's student ID and password.

Solution:

1) Ask your child to logon or verify the login information. Students often change their Blackboard password at school or teachers sometimes change the password when a student is having difficulty. Communication with your child is important to make sure you have the most current password.

2) If you still cannot logon, contact your child's teacher or team leader, and, as course instructors in Blackboard, they can make the necessary changes. If you request such a change, please notify your child so that the password is not again reset at school when they are having difficulty.

(Note: FCPS recognizes the challenges with sharing a password with your child and is studying the feasibility of parent accounts. Thank you for your continuing understanding and coordination with the password issue.)

Issue 2: I do not see my child's courses in Blackboard or one of the courses is missing. What do I do?

Solution:

1) Contact your child's teacher and tell them that you do not see their course in your child's Blackboard.

2) Provide your child's username (student ID number).

3) The teacher will enroll your child into the course.

Issue 3: I see my child's old courses from last year or from a previous school. How can they be removed?

Solution:

1) Only the course instructor of a specific course can make changes to a class roster, so only a course instructor of a course can make changes.

2) You will need to notify the teacher of the old course and request to be removed from the course. Provide your child's username (student ID number) and course name when contacting the course instructor.
