Principal Klena's Monthly Bulletin for July 2012
Dear HMS Families
I hope you are enjoying a relaxing time with family and friends this summer. While it is quiet at school, we are very focused on planning for the new school year. This is an exciting time as we are creating schedules for the students and meeting new families and hiring new teachers.
Gail LaBaugh, Lenore Waggoner and Jackie Rossell retired in June and we congratulate them and thank them for their extensive service to teaching students. We will miss them all and I thank these teachers for their service to Herndon Middle School.
Our school supply list is posted on our website. We have a partnership with Kids R First and this organization has done a great job providing supplies to families if there is a need. The supplies are delivered later in August. If you have questions or a request for help with supplies, please call the school between 9:00 and 2:00 PM (703-904-4800).
Speaking of partnerships, I am very pleased with a new partner for Herndon Middle School. The Rotary Club of Herndon has taken on the Computers for Students (CFS) project. This week they donated $2, 125.00 to support our school's mission to help every student have computers and internet connections at home. With the Rotary Club supporting us, I know we will be able to accomplish the important goals of the CFS project.
Below are some important dates to help keep you informed about school events over the summer. Please note that our school day has changed and the hours will be from 7:50 a.m. until 2:40 p.m.
