Office of Student Services

Welcome

Welcome to the Herndon High School Counseling and Student Services home page. We recently updated our Guidance and Career sections of the website.  To get to the College and Career Center pages, use the link to the left.

The mission of our staff is to provide equitable access and services to all students enrolled at HHS. Students are exposed to a rigorous course selection process. The school counselors, assigned alphabetically, provide academic advisement, career and personal/social counseling services that help students meet their post secondary goals and aspirations. The Career Center Specialist supports the Student Services program by providing career awareness and exploration resources for students and parents.

If you haven't done so already, please take time to meet your student's counselor. The Staff of HHS Student Services/Guidance looks forward to working with you.

Please also take advantage of the Fairfax County Public School System Career Connections for a wealth of helpful information for parents and students on an endless array of topics.

Schedule Change Information (updated Oct 5, 2009)
Herndon counselors spend considerable time assisting students with their selection of appropriate courses. Since all decisions regarding staffing, instructional supplies, etc. are made based on those selections, change requests will only be accommodated under limited circumstances. All students (honors, AP and regular) must remain in their current class until the end of the first interim marking period.   The attached form has been provided to guide the student and family through the change request process. Schedule change requests can be submitted at any time, but will be reviewed by the schedule change committee at the beginning of the 2nd quarter.  Questions should be directed to the student's counselor.  ( See guidance staff contact information here.)
