Laura Waterman, Assistant Principal
Laura Waterman, the Class of 2015 and Special Education Administrator, has been working in Fairfax County Public Schools since 2002. As an FCPS student, she attended Flint Hill Elementary, Thoreau Middle, and James Madison High Schools. Mrs. Waterman attended Virginia Tech, George Mason, and the University of Virginia for her Undergraduate degree, Masters degree, and Endorsement in Education Leadership, respectively. As a special education teacher at Madison High School, she taught English 9, 11, and 12 and was a track and field coach.
Mrs. Waterman was selected as a LEAD Fairfax Intern during the 2010-2011 school year and was placed at Key Middle School and McLean High School. During this time, she honed her belief that knowing each child, by name and by need - and acting on those needs - is the best way to ensure student and school success. Mrs. Waterman firmly believes that our students and families give us all great insight on life and deserve to be treated with dignity, respect and provided the appropriate support to succeed. Mrs. Waterman enjoys going to concerts, spending time at the beach, and getting to know her daughter, Naomi, who was born in December of 2010.
