Frequently Asked Questions

Library Cards

	Every freshman/new student is issued a library card.
	The card is valid until the student graduates or leaves Herndon High School.
	A replacement card may be purchased for $1.00.

Circulation Procedures

	A student may borrow up to 8 books at one time.
	The loan period is three weeks.
	Renewal is possible, but books must be brought in to be renewed.
	Magazines do not circulate.
	Fines are charged for overdue books. The charge is 10 cents per day per book, up to a maximum of $5.00 for a paperback book and $10.00 for a hardback book.
	Lost items will be billed at the current replacement price.
	All obligations must be paid to receive a graduation cap and gown.
	As a courtesy, the Library sends overdue and fine notices to a borrower through one of his/her teachers.

Library Passes

A pass is required for admittance to the library during class hours and during Stinger time.

Food

	Covered beverages are welcome in the library.
	No food is allowed in the library.

Copier Charges

	Xerox copies can be made for 15 cents each.
	Back-to-back copies are not available.
	Change is available for small bills.

Other Guidelines

	Students are expected to take care of the Library furnishings, push in chairs, place trash in proper receptacles, and return materials to their proper location.
	Consideration and respect for other Library users is expected at all times.
	Library materials should be checked out properly and handled with care.
	Holds may be placed by a student on books currently checked out.
	Back issues of magazines should be returned to their appropriate boxes.
