School and Community

Herndon High School is a four-year, fully accredited public school that serves approximately 2200 students from the Herndon, Reston and Great Falls area.  It is located in a residential suburb three miles from Washington/Dulles International Airport and numerous technology centers. Herndon is on an Alternate A/B schedule that offers students three 90 minute periods, one 45 minute period, and one 30 minute intervention/enrichment period each day.  Herndon’s extra-curricular programs provide extensive opportunities for students to participate in athletics, performing arts, honor societies, community service and general interest clubs.
