- Fairfax County Department of Family Services— help with items such as childcare, disability, employment, healthcare assistance, volunteering, and more.
- Town of Herndon—includes information Town services, employment, taxes, licenses, and more.
- Neighborhood Resource Center— Services available at the center include ESL classes, student registration, GRANTS Alternative High School , adult outreach learning center, Girl Power program, Head Start, mental health counseling, homework tutoring, and crime prevention. The center also offers a computer learning center, neighborhood college, support services for single parents, housing counseling, community mediation services, pro bono legal services, parenting programs, and more. Meeting space is available at the center for community organizations and groups.
- Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic — a nonprofit, community-based organization of volunteer healthcare professionals and community volunteers, committed to providing access to quality health services to uninsured low-income residents of the Herndon, Reston, Chantilly, and Centreville area. To view the many volunteer opportunities, click here . There are opportunities for students, individuals, and businesses. There are many needs that do not require medical training.
- Fairfax County's Human Services Resource Guide — (HSRG) is a database of public, non-profit, and some private for-profit human services available to Fairfax County residents. Designed and maintained by a staff of Human Services professionals, the HSRG contains detailed service descriptions, service access criteria, eligibility criteria, and location, language, and contact information for hundreds of organizations providing human services to Fairfax County residents. If you need help navigating or identifying the best service/program for yourself or someone else, please call Coordinated Services Planning (CSP) at 703-222-0880 or Spanish (703)631-3366. The 222 line is answered initially in English, but you can be linked to a social worker who speaks many other languages simply by requesting assistance in that language.
- Volunteer Opportunities with Reston Interfaith – this shows the many ways that individuals or groups can become involved in the many activities that Reston Interfaith sponsors.

- CADCA
CADCA's mission is to build and strengthen the capacity of community coalitions to create safe, healthy and drug-free communities.
- Fairfax County Safe and Drug-Free Youth Section link to the FCPS Safe and Drug-Free Youth section promotes prevention and early intervention for violence and drug use in our community through a variety of means such as Coalitions, education programs, prevention curriculum, peer mediation, communication with courts and law enforcement, and more.

- Al-Anon/AlaTeen - Helps families and friends of alcoholics get help.
- Binge Drinking: Community Problem, Community Solution - Get tools to stop college binge drinking.
- Children of Alcoholics Foundation - The Children of Alcoholics Foundation is a national non-profit that provides a range of educational materials and services to help professionals, children and adults break the intergenerational cycle of parental substance abuse.
- College Drinking Prevention- An online resource center for changing the drinking culture on college campuses!
- Mothers Against Drunk Driving - The focus of this group is to look for effective solutions to the drunk driving and underage drinking problems, while supporting those who have already experienced the pain of these senseless crimes.
- Parents Who Host – Lost The Most – a Countywide Initiative to Reduce Underaged Drinking.
- Students Against Destructive Decisions - SADD is a peer leadership organization dedicated to preventing underage drinking and drug use by focusing attention on the potentially life threatening consequences of destructive decisions involving issues such as not wearing a safety belt, smoking, steroid use, violence, sexually transmitted diseases and suicide.

- Communities That Care (CTC) Survey on Bullying Prevention
– a survey that was compiled that looks at Bullying characteristics, myths, school rules, school initiatives, and more.
- National PTA Bullying Survey Results – research and findings conducted and compiled by the National PTA.
- Bullying.org – Bullying.org is dedicated to increasing the awareness of, and the problems associated with, bullying and to preventing, resolving, and eliminating bullying in society.
- No Bullying.org – a kid-friendly website that addresses bullying prevention and education.

DRUG LINKS
- Anti-Drug.com - This is an excellent resource for parents and youth caregivers. This site includes a comprehensive list of drug information, advice for parents, the latest drug news, and ways to get involved in your community.
- Blood Alcohol Content Calculator - The calculator shows how little alcohol is needed to change your blood alcohol levels.
- Club Drugs - Find research, resources and other information on club drugs.
- Drug Watch - This site has position papers on medical marijuana and the legalization of drugs. They also have drug testing info.
- Inhalants - Inhalants are legal, everyday products which have a useful purpose, but can be misused.
- Key Issue Drug Use – good information from Fairfax County for parents
- Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free - This is a unique coalition of more than 30 Governors' spouses, Federal agencies, and public and private organizations, is an initiative to prevent the use of alcohol by children ages 9 to 15. It is the only national effort that focuses on alcohol use in this age group.
- National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) - this site lists information on common drugs of abuse for parents, teachers and students.
- Partnership for a Drug-Free America - The Partnership For A Drug-Free America is a non-profit coalition of professionals from the communications industry, whose mission is to help teens reject substance abuse. This site lists drug-related news clips, information and photos of popular drugs, links and the site includes sections for KIDS/TEENS and PARENTS/CAREGIVERS.
- National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI) - An excellent resource for drug and alcohol facts as well as a great place to get free publications and brochures.
- Street Drugs.org - This is an excellent resource for current drug information.
- Substance Abuse Awareness Week, Nov. 12 – 18, will be held at various sites around the county. Activities held throughout the week are designed to raise awareness, promote healthy lifestyles, provide education on current trends in the field of addiction and to celebrate recovery from all forms of addiction. - The Truth.com - This is the website of the American Legacy Foundation, devoted to teaching youth about the tobacco industry's manipulation of the public through marketing.

GANG PREVENTION/AWARENESS
- Fairfax County Police Gang Information – good resource for Frequently Asked Questions about Youths and Gangs.
-Fairfax County Coordinating Council on Gang Prevention
– this group is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the county’s preventative and community education efforts to combat the presence and proliferation of gangs.
-Virginia Gang Investigator’s Association
– includes an area for parents and has photos of gang tattoos, handsigns, colors, and graffiti.

- Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA) Gang Update Report – Released a report, "Daring to Care: Community-Based Responses to Youth Gang Violence in Central America and Central-American Immigrant Communities in the United States ,” that profiles six youth violence prevention organizations, 3 in the United States and 3 in Central America, that embody this type of innovative, multi-sectoral approach. One of these organizations is World Vision and our very own, Juan Pacheco, GHCC member.

- National Inhalant Prevention Coalition – a good website that covers education and research on inhalants.
- National Drug Control Policy on Inhalants
– facts and figures of inhalants.
- Parents – The Anti-Druggreat information for parents on the use of inhalants.

INTERNET SAFETY
-2Smrt4u – Website funded by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children which serves as a tangible reminder to "Type Smart. Post Wisely."  This is a national Internet Safety awareness and prevention campaign which focuses on educating and empowering teenage girls about the potential dangers of Internet predators.
-Virginia Youth Internet Safety Task Force Report
– Attorney General Bob McDonnell released an in-depth task force report on Internet Safety in December 2006. There is a valuable resource list in the addendum.
- Safe Kids
— website dedicated to making the Internet fun, safe and productive. Includes child-safe search engines.
- Get Net Wise— great resource for online safety, help in stopping unwanted spam, and more.
- FBI Guide to Safety—includes information for parents.
- Child Safe International—great site for the whole family!
- Safety Clicks— AOL and the National School Boards Foundation (NSBF) have partnered to launch the Safety Clicks! Campaign — a nationwide effort to provide parents, kids and educators with the resources they need to have a safe and enriching online experience.
- Emoticon Universe—a website that lists the Internet Slang terms used by our children and more.
- Cyber Tipline — a website for reporting the sexual exploitation of children.
- Internet Alliance— The Internet Alliance (IA) is the only advocacy organization of Internet policy professionals representing the Internet online industry in all 50 states. The IA’s mission is to promote confidence and trust in the Internet so it can reach its potential as the most dynamic market medium of this century.
- Mediawise – National Institute on Media and the Family - provides information about the impact of media on children, and gives people who care about children the resources they need to make informed choices. They also provide ratings on Video games and so much more. They do not advocate censorship.

- Center for Multicultural Human Services – CMHS is a non-profit organization staffed by multi-ethnic, multilingual social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, education specialists, art therapists and graduate interns from local universities. - Fairfax County Safe & Drug Free Youth Section - SDFY is dedicated to promoting prevention and early intervention for violence and drug use in our community through coalitions, resources, programs, public awareness, and more.
-Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board - The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board partners with individuals, families, and the community to empower and support Fairfax-Falls Church residents with or at risk of developmental delay, intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and alcohol or drug abuse or dependency. We provide leadership to ensure the integration of the principles of resilience, recovery and self-determination in the development and provision of services. We maintain accountability by ensuring that continuous system improvement is anchored in best practice, outcome and effectiveness measurement, and the efficient use of resources. As the public support network, we provide services which assist, improve and maximize the potential of individuals affected by these conditions and strengthen their capacity for living self-determined, productive and valued lives within our community.
- Herndon United Methodist Church – HUMC is a faith-based business partner for Herndon High School.
- Kids At Hope - An innovative concept which states and demonstrates that all children are capable of success, NO EXCEPTIONS!   Kids at Hope is not another program, it is first and foremost a belief system supported by a culture and then enhanced by programs. It rallies entire communities around the asset building model for children by recruiting schools, youth organizations, police and fire departments, businesses, and families with a common framework to address children's needs holistically.
- Neighborhood Resource Center – It is responsible for developing and coordinating resources and services that strengthen and enhance neighborhoods. The objectives of this operation are to physically improve private and publicly-owned structures and properties; enhance the levels of community trust, understanding and communication; stimulate development of additional public, private and non-profit initiatives for improving neighborhoods.
- Safe Haven – The programs provide academic assistance and enrichment, cultural opportunities, and service opportunities to the program youths. In addition, the police serve as mentors to the YSH youth and work with the community to develop better understanding.
- Teen Center – Provides programs for teens in the Herndon – Reston area.

- World Vision – World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.
- Reston Interfaith – We are a nonprofit organization with 38 years of experience serving Reston, Herndon, and northwestern Fairfax County.  Reston Interfaith promotes self-sufficiency through support and advocacy for those in need of food, shelter, affordable housing, quality childcare, and other services.  We invite you to join us as we continue to meet the critical needs of our neighbors. - Young Life - Young Life seeks to carry the message of Jesus Christ into that tumultuous tide and points teenagers toward life as they were created to live it. Since 1941, the dynamic that has characterized Young Life is its commitment to relationships — Young Life leaders meeting kids on their turf in the interest of friendship. As leaders get to know teenagers, they are able to share the love of Jesus Christ through platforms like Young Life club, Campaigners and trips to camp.

Programs

A.C.T Against Violence- (Adults and Children Together Against Violence) - The program accomplishes its mission by disseminating research-based information and skills to adults in simple, accessible, user-friendly messages and materials. - Too Good for Drugs- Too Good for Drugs (TGFD) is a school-based prevention program for kindergarten through 12th grade that builds on students' resiliency by teaching them how to be socially competent and autonomous problem solvers. The program is designed to benefit everyone in the school by providing needed education in social and emotional competencies and by reducing risk factors and building protective factors that affect students in these age groups. TGFD focuses on developing personal and interpersonal skills to resist peer pressures, goal setting, decision-making, bonding
with others, having respect for self and others, managing emotions, effective communication, and social interactions.
The program also provides information about the negative consequences of drug use and the benefits of a nonviolent, drug-free lifestyle.
