4th Grade

The Fairfax County 4th grade science curriculum includes material related to "Earth Patterns, Cycles, and Change". This study is aided by a trip to the planetarium, in which a show designed to reinforce learning about the following subjects is presented:

• Understanding the motions of the Earth and Moon in the Solar system;
• The causes of our seasons and the observed phases of the Moon;
• The composition, size, and age of the Earth, Moon, and Sun, as well as the distances between them; and
• The historical background of our understanding.
