In 1919 I was born in Cairo, Georgia.

TUESDAY

I served in the United States Army during World War II but became famous for my baseball ability.

WEDNESDAY

I was named Rookie of the Year in 1947 and the National League’s Most Valuable player in 1949.

THURSDAY

In 1947 I became the first African American baseball player on a major league team.
