Enrollment Requirements
Entrance Age
A child may enter kindergarten if he/she has reached age 5 on or before September 30 of the year he or she enters.
Required Enrollment
Virginia law, Sections 22.1-254, requires that children who will reach their fifth birthday on or before September 30, 2009, must be enrolled in Kindergarten for the 2009-2010 school year unless the parent or guardian notifies the school in writing that they do not wish the child to attend kindergarten until the 2010-2011 school year.

Important Immunization Notice for Rising Sixth Graders: Sixth Graders cannot begin school in the fall without documentation of having had the Tdap booster or having had a tetanus-containing vaccine within the past five years. Click here for more information.
Immunization Information- Fairfax County Health Department Clinics offer walk-in services for childhood immunizations. Check out the extended hours!
Keep in Touch (KIT)- Keep in Touch or KIT is Fairfax County Public Schools' mass notification system. It has two services. Kit Basic is the automatic enrollment service of KIT for parents of FCPS students and employees of the system. It draws contact information from the student information system and the employee databases. FCPS central offices and schools use KIT Basic for three types of messages: emergency, attendance, and outreach. KIT Plus is a subscription service for students, community members, and citizens interested in news, events, and updates from FCPS.
Purchasing School Meals- Parents may prepay for school meals for the month, week, or day. Students will use their Personal Identification Numbers (PIN). Parents may specify how payments are to be used by their children - lunch and breakfast only, or lunch and a la carte snacks. Payment options include:
- Online at myLunchMoney.com- Easy-to-use, convenient, private, and secure. There is a convenience fee. Parents can check the fund account and usage anytime from the home computer or phone. Flyer (pdf)
