Theresa Carhart

Principal: Theresa Carhart

Theresa Carhart began her teaching career in the early 90s as a first grade teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools. A family move led her to Eastern North Carolina where she taught fourth grade for three years before becoming a recipient of the North Carolina Principal Fellows' Scholarship. Mrs. Carhart earned her Master's Degree in School Administration and Supervision from East Carolina University and has administrative experience at the elementary, middle and high school levels. This will be her ninth year as a school leader.  She returned to Fairfax County Public Schools in 2007, to serve the Hayfield Elementary school community.

Andrew Smith

Assistant Principal: Andrew Smith

Andrew Smith is originally from upstate New York, where he completed his undergraduate degree in general and special education at SUNY Geneseo.  He moved to Fairfax County in 2001 to teach an inclusive second-grade class at Braddock Elementary.  After two years, he continued his teaching in special education while completing his Master's degree in New Professional Studies in Education at George Mason University.  Mr. Smith later earned another Master's degree from GMU in Educational Leadership while serving as special education teacher and department chairperson.
