Task

You will gather information about the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party.  Since you want the truth, you should check out various reports and opinions on these events, from both the American and the British side.   You will consider reports coming from those who had direct connections to these events when they happened (primary sources).  By getting these reports when the news was “fresh”, you’ll have a clearer idea what people were thinking and saying about what happened.  You’ll also consider later reports on these events (secondary sources.)

You will take notes and write the facts, as they were and are reported, in your interactive journal.   After you have gathered enough information on the events, you and a group of fellow “Bostonians” will prepare a dramatic play for one of the events.   You will take this play to other colonies (other classes at our school) and answer any questions that the colonists (students, teachers, and parents) have.   Remember: everyone wants to know what really happened and why it happened, so that they can make a decision whether to support the Sons of Liberty or the British.
