MARK YOUR CALENDARS!  We are excited to announce our second annual Gunston Elementary Science Fair on March 13, 2008.  This year’s Science Fair will be a dynamic event.  In addition to student projects, we are planning exhibitions and demonstrations by companies and experts in the field of science.  It will be a fun and exciting event for participants and observers alike!

All students at Gunston Elementary are invited to participate in the Science Fair.  This is an optional activity but one in which we hope many children will participate.  The guidelines for a science fair project are attached.  Because the Science Fair is over two months away, we are looking forward to well-planned models, experiments, and demonstrations that build on the student’s interests or material the students have studied.

If your child decides to participate in this non-competitive event, you will need to look over the attached guidelines and help your child decide on a project.  We have attached many topic ideas and resources to help in your selection of a project.  We will also hold at least one after-school session for students that need assistance developing their ideas or projects (date to be announced later).    

If your child plans to participate in the science fair, please fill out the lower portion of this page and return it to your child’s classroom teacher.  Classroom teachers will review all projects to ensure they are appropriate.  Additional information pertinent to project displays will be requested later.  This form needs to be returned by Feb. 15th.  Forms returned after that date may not be accepted due to space limitations.
