The Reading Teacher at Groveton works closely as a resource for teachers, students, administration and parents to meet all curriculum needs in the area of reading and language arts.
The following list describes the responsibilities of the full time Reading Teacher at Groveton:
- Assists the Principal in implementing the Fairfax County Reading and Language Arts Program, K-6.
- Provides staff development/turn around training from the Department of Instructional Services in reading and language arts.
- Team teaches in classrooms modeling various components of the reading/language arts program.
- Assists teachers in meeting the needs of all students.
- Represents the school at Countywide inservices and other related meetings.
- Works with other Resource Teachers to monitor the progress of "at risk" students.
- Orders and organizes reading materials to support classroom instruction.
- Provides research information on current reading practices focused on meeting the needs of our multi-cultural population.
- Coordinates diagnostic evaluations of students' literacy progress.
- Assists teachers in designing reading/language arts units that support and integrate the Program of Studies.
- Assists the Principal in the identification of building wide and grade level language arts objectives based upon an analysis of student achievement data.
- Member of the Literacy Team..
- Assists the Principal in the analysis of student test data.
