How do the leaders of yesterday and today compare? How do they contrast?

Points to consider:

• What are the characteristics of leaders?
• What are the effects the leader has on the culture and on other cultures?
• What has influenced this leader? Other people, religion, power, money, fame...

Project Suggestion:

Use the leadership questions to record various characteristics you think an effective leader should have. Choose one of the leaders you learned about this year. Record the characteristic of that leader. Next, select and research a contemporary leader of that same culture. Record the characteristics you learned about the contemporary leader.

• What training, education or experience should a person gain before becoming a leader?
• What type of problems does this leader need to solve?
• What actions does a leader take during their life?
• How do leaders present themselves or talk to others?
• What do others think about this leader?
• What significant changes has this leader made?

Using your knowledge of the leader and culture of the area, design an interview for the contemporary leader and the classical leader. Include at least 5 questions for each leader. Respond to the questions as you predict the leader would respond.
