Language Artsbook

Investigate that plants have life needs and functional parts and can be classified as an evergreen or deciduous tree

Social Studies


Show sequence of events and distinguish between past and present using a time line

Investigate and understand the relationship between the sun and the earth
Investigate how different materials interact with water
Understand that natural resources are limited
Explain recycling and reducing consumption

Social Studies

Describe contributions of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington Carver, Gary Soto and Sandra Day O'Connor
Describe the importance of President's Day

Fourth Quarter

Language Arts

Investigate and understand the life cycle of an earthworm
Know that plants can be classified according to certain characteristics: edible/ non-edible, flowering, non-flowering

Describe contributions of Maya Lin
Discuss and learn about events such as Memorial Day and Independence Day
Know the differences between goods and services and how people are both buyers and sellers of goods and services
Recognize that communities in Virginia include people who have diverse ethnic origins, customs, and traditions that make contributions and who are united as Americans by common principals
Identify patriotic symbols and traditions
