Attendance Line and Homework Requests

The telephone number to report absent or tardy students is 703-757-2111.  Please call the attendance line by 9:00 a.m.   The attendance phone number will connect you to a 24-hour answering machine, so you can leave a message any time after school hours if you know your child will not be attending the next school day.  You will need to call every day your child does not attend school, unless you notify us of a specific return date.

If you would like to request homework, please leave a message on the attendance line when you call your child’s absence in, or call the office before 10:00 A.M.   Teachers pick up messages during their lunch time; therefore, calling before 10:00 will allow the teacher sufficient time to pick up the message and prepare the homework during the school day.  Homework will be ready to pick up in the office after school dismissal, or if you would like the homework sent home with another student, make sure to leave the student’s full name and teacher name.

Change of Transportation

The Change of Transportation  (COT) Program is scheduled to begin *Oct. 6th.  Parents/Guardians who participate in the Change of Transportation program do so with the understanding they will use this form, and follow the rules and guidelines sent home with the Transportation forms.  Some important rules regarding this program:

  • Students are permitted a maximum of 2 transportation changes per month.
  • Bus riders may bring only 1 visiting student home on the school bus.  We cannot accommodate parent requests for students to bring more than one student home on the bus for parties, class projects, etc.
  • We must have matching notes from the parent/guardian of students going home with each other.  Please make sure your child has his/hers in the backpack before leaving for school.  If called, parents are responsible for bringing or faxing missing notes to school before the child’s lunchtime or the request will not be honored.
  • Send the form to school on the day of the transportation change only.  We cannot accept advance notification.
  • A separate form is needed for every student.  Please do not put siblings’ names on the same form.  Remember to note the teacher’s name.
  • If your child will be picked up by someone the same day, every week for child care, you may arrange to keep a permanent note on file.  Please speak to a secretary in the office if you need to arrange this.

The Change of Transportation program is not possible without parent cooperation and volunteers. Volunteers are needed every morning to sort, match and approve the COT forms sent in by parents. No Experience Necessary! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, or would like to learn more about this program, contact Karen Ehrensaal at Behrensaa@aol.com. A training session is set up for Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at 9:15 am in the cafeteria.

Parents of students enrolled in the SACC program are responsible for notifying SACC directly with any changes in their student’s transportation, or absences.
