Course Offerings

Gifted/Talented Center Program

The Gifted and Talented Center Program provides full-time services in the core subjects of science, social studies, and English for highly intellectually gifted students. The Fairfax County Public Schools Program of Studies provides specific objectives for each student. Differentiated instructional objectives for gifted students emphasize the enrichment of the curriculum through the extension, application, and analysis of content, and the development of problem-solving strategies.

The learning environment in the Center supports the unique personal and social characteristics of highly gifted students. Opportunities are provided within the academic program and through the guidance department to encourage self-management, self-understanding, positive group dynamics, and constructive leadership.

Gifted/Talented School Based Program

The School-Based GT Program provides a part-time program for academically and creatively gifted students. Differentiated learning objectives extend the Fairfax County Public Schools Program of Studies through a humanities-based approach to content.

Students are grouped together in English and History in the seventh grade and English and civics in the eighth grade. Learning activities assist students in developing interdisciplinary connections. The program is available at every middle school.
